What Jurgen Klopp did following Darwin Nunez’s missed penalty kick for Liverpool versus Chelsea

The TV cameras captured Jurgen Klopp’s response when Darwin Nunez missed a penalty kick for Liverpool against Chelsea.

On Wednesday night, the Premier League matchup between the Reds and Chelsea took place at Anfield. Liverpool led the standings going into the match by one point after Arsenal’s victory over Nottingham Forest the previous day.

Liverpool dominated the game and led 2-0 at the half at Anfield as Klopp’s squad assumed command. The Reds took a two-goal lead thanks to goals from Diogo Jota and Conor Bradley.

Before the half, referee Paul Tierney signaled for a penalty, giving the opposition an opportunity for a third goal. Benoit Badiashile fouled Jota, and as Mohamed Salah was not available, Nunez was given the opportunity to take the penalty kick.

But Nunez’s shot smacked against the right post, sparking a quick counterattack by Chelsea before the Liverpool defense stopped it. Eventually, the TNT Sports TV replays featured Klopp’s response to Nunez’s missed penalty.

As he usually does when Liverpool wins a penalty, Klopp was standing away from the field and facing the Main Stand at Anfield. Instead of waiting for the supporters to celebrate Nunez’s goal, Klopp seemed surprised when he turned to check what had happened when the spot-kick hit the woodwork.

Dominik Szoboszlai’s header gave Liverpool a 3-0 lead in the second half as they continued to dominate the match. After coming on as a halftime substitution, Christopher Nkunku scored for Chelsea to tie the score shortly after. After that, Luis Diaz gave Liverpool a 4-1 lead, with Nunez providing the assist.
