Steelers’ Quarterback Competition Making Headlines

The Pittsburgh Steelers’ quarterback rivalry is on full display.

Pittsburgh — The Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback rivalry is already picking up momentum, and with headlines being fairly consistent throughout OTAs, it’s time to address the elephant in the room.

The Steelers are currently functioning with Russell Wilson as their starter and Justin Fields as their backup. Everyone appears to have an opinion on whether Fields will – or can – steal Wilson’s starting quarterback job. That is, everyone except for members of the Steelers organization.

There’s basically only one big question to answer: is there a legitimate quarterback competition? And if there isn’t one right now, will it be available throughout training camp?

Meanwhile, many in the NFL believe the Steelers have some tricks up their sleeves when it comes to Fields. Most gimmicks fail. This time, it might. What other teams expect Pittsburgh will do may be something they need to incorporate into their playbook if they haven’t already.

And now we’re headed to Week 3 of Organized Team Activities. There are three players to keep an eye on when the Steelers take the field for the final time before the complete team returns for minicamp.
