Six Liverpool players, including Alexis Mac Allister, are out for Manchester United Match

On Sunday, Liverpool will play Manchester United in a Premier League match that has historically favored Jürgen Klopp. Naturally, the Reds triumphed 7-0 at Anfield the previous time they played there.

Liverpool would be unwise to underestimate Erik ten Hag’s team, despite their recent poor play and the fact that they will also be missing their captain Bruno Fernandes due to suspension. If the Reds triumph, Klopp’s team will have 40 league points for the year. Naturally, this means that Liverpool will stay atop the standings no matter what happens in the other games that take place earlier in the weekend.

First, the positive news. Wataru Endo and Ibrahima Konaté’s withdrawals at halftime of Thursday’s Europa League match worried some, but Klopp has now acknowledged that this tactical change was prearranged.

“We simply wanted to share the intensity,” he stated following the game, according to the Liverpool ECHO. If we got the chance to play Joe Gomez 90 or Ibou 90, who would I prefer? 45 and 45, the same in midfield, was my decision.

“These adjustments were scheduled before to the match, regardless of the outcome. All we did was try it out. It was obvious that Jarell would play through if he was able to. That was the underlying idea.”

Alisson, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Mohamed Salah, and Virgil van Dijk will all be rested for Sunday’s match, which will help them be fresh. Though they managed to get through midweek without suffering any fresh injuries, six are still sidelined.

Though there was some excitement when Thiago Alcântara’s photos surfaced earlier this week, the Spaniard isn’t quite ready to go back into the game just yet. Before players like Diogo Jota and Andy Robertson return to the field, there is still some time to go.

Alexis Mac Allister seems to be the most likely to make a comeback. Although there are hints of improvement, Klopp stated at his midweek pre-match press conference—as cited by official club media—that he didn’t think the Argentina international would return in time for the Manchester United encounter.

“I hope it doesn’t take too long; I’d rather to say it’s day by day. However, it appears like he might be able to play in the upcoming game, but he won’t be prepared for that either. I so hope that he takes significant steps over the next three to four days, and then we’ll see.”
