seven different players the Packers could trade for before the first week of the 2024 season

The Green Bay Packers have one of the greatest lineups in the NFL, but a bold deal (or two) before the 2024 season might cement their status as legitimate NFC contenders.

General manager Brian Gutekunst has done an excellent job creating this squad and positioning the Packers to compete in the tough NFC North going forward, but now that his quarterback (Jordan Love) is in place, Gutekunst can feel free to trade future picks for current assets.

The Packers have done well enough in the NFL Draft and have made so many picks in recent years that it’s possible the best use of their future draft capital will be on veterans who can upgrade the current roster.

Let’s look at some players they could target in a trade before Week 1 of the 2024 season.

Green Bay Packers trade targets before Week 1 of 2024 season

1. Marshon Lattimore, CB, Saints

The one position group that could really be an Achilles heel for the Green Bay Packers this coming season is at cornerback. Needless to say, this will be a relatively cornerback-heavy list of potential trades to happen before Week 1, including the potential of a blockbuster like trading for Saints cornerback Marshon Lattimore.

Lattimore has been the subject of trade rumors all throughout the offseason, and with a base salary of just over $1.2 million this season, the Saints have structured Lattimore’s contract to be able to trade him if the opportunity arises.

The Packers would have to pay a premium here because of Lattimore’s contract and age (just 28) but he could be the missing piece for this team.

2. James Bradberry, cornerback, Eagles Quite frankly, James Bradberry’s value has never been lower. The former Pro Bowl cornerback is coming off an absolutely terrible season with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2023, and with the Eagles switching to defensive coordinator Vic Fangio in 2024, there may not be a better time for Philly to try and get something for Bradberry while they still can.

Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean were selected first and second overall in the 2024 NFL Draft by the Eagles. Those young players need to play, and Bradberry may be to the Packers in 2024 what Rasul Douglas was to the Bills in 2023.
