Sent scouts to Mason Greenwood’s previous three games because Barcelona is keen to sign the Manchester United attacker.

The Old Trafford team declared in August that the 22-year-old would continue his career elsewhere, thus it is unlikely that he would return. Currently on loan at Getafe.

With five goals in 15 games, Greenwood has been making an impression on scouts and commentators in the Spanish top division. Barca is “hugely interested” in him because they think he is “tailor-made” for the team.

The English forward is being watched by Valencia and Real Sociedad as well, but Getafe would prefer to have him on staff.

He has contributed four assists, created sixteen opportunities, and is gradually regaining his form after missing months of play because of his legal dispute.

After Greenwood’s arrest and following charges of attempted rape, assault, and controlling and coercive behavior in January 2022, he was no longer a player for Man United.

Following fan backlash and intense internal pressure and criticism, the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) dropped the charges against him. However, the Red Devils have decided not to use him going forward, with staff threatening to go on strike in protest of the team’s initial plans to reinstate him.

Even though Getafe included a 20% sell-on provision in the agreement and waived the loan fee, Man United might still profit from the sale if a team like as Barcelona makes an offer.

Antoine Griezmann praised him during the 3-3 tie with Atletico Madrid, and if he continues to show growth and success at the end of the season, a transfer to one of the best teams in Europe may be in the works.
