Russell Wilson and Justin Fields team up to treat the Steelers’ offensive line to steak dinner.

When the quarterback picks up a large check for a meal for his offensive lineman, a bond is formed. The Steelers’ Russell Wilson and Justin Fields each picked up the meal. The big dinner is a weekly event for the Steelers line.

If you want to be disciplined and in unity on the field, break some bread off of it.It’s fantastic when quarterbacks stop by to pay for the steaks.“Everybody’s been working,” Wilson told reporters this week as to why everyone went to dinner.

“It is not just about me; it is about them, and it is about all of us.It has been a lot of fun. (And) it’s been a fun experience thus far. We’re just working hard, being focused, and doing everything we can to succeed.”

The group gathered at a downtown Pittsburgh steak house. The steaks there start at about $55 and then go up, plus sides. Of course, there’s dessert. The guys burn off enough calories at practice. This was a special occasion.

Steelers lineman Spencer Anderson didn’t say how much the quarterbacks spent, but “It was a lot.”

Then Steelers offensive tackle Dan Moore added: “we offensive linemen, you know, we got to eat, so they took us out, wined and dined us a little bit.”

Moore then described the two Steelers quarterbacks: “They each have their own dynamic, but they definitely each bring energy in their own ways, being leaders on the field and off. Even outside of playing, getting guys together and doing things together. You can definitely feel those guys for sure.”

Pittsburgh will start over at quarterback this season. Either Wilson or Fields will start. Steelers coach Mike Tomlin stated that Wilson, a 36-year-old with a Super Bowl title and nine Pro Bowl appearances, will receive first crack at quarterback.

But don’t rule out Fields. Wilson signed with the Steelers after being released by the Broncos in March. Then they traded for Fields, the Bears first-round pick in 2021. Fields has started for Chicago in the last three years.

But he became expendable when the Bears elected to choose Caleb Williams as the #1 choice in the 2024 NFL Draft. Meanwhile, Kenny Pickett, Pittsburgh’s first-round pick in 2022 and a two-year starter, is now with the Eagles.

OTAs started last week, with the Steelers getting to be on the field with both quarterbacks for the first time. It’s also been a chance for both quarterbacks to get to know their new Steelers teammates. “It’s been cool.

“These guys are incredibly dedicated,” Wilson told reporters. “They work hard in the weight room, on the field, and in the video room.

All we want is to be able to share as many life experiences as possible. It’s been crazy, it’s been busy. The more time we have together, the better. “It was definitely a fantastic supper.”
