Possible lineups for Liverpool vs Newcastle United

Jurgen Klopp, the manager of Liverpool, has declined to rule Alexis Mac Allister out of the Premier League match against Newcastle United on Monday at Anfield.

Possible lineups for Liverpool vs Newcastle United

The Argentine midfield player is currently in the last stages of his recovery after sustaining a severe cut to his knee against Sheffield United on December 6.

But with Kostas Tsimikas (collarbone), Ben Doak (knee), Joel Matip (knee), Stefan Bajcetic (calf), Thiago Alcantara (hip), and Andrew Robertson (shoulder) all recovering, the Reds will undoubtedly be missing six injured players on New Year’s Day.

Given the absence of Tsimikas and Robertson, Joe Gomez should be used as a backup left-back once more, with Trent Alexander-Arnold playing vice captain on the other side.

Although Jarell Quansah helped the Reds retain a clean sheet against Burnley on Boxing Day, Ibrahima Konate may replace him. Alisson Becker and Virgil van Dijk are other excellent defensive players.

Wataru Endo should be allowed to maintain his excellent form as Liverpool’s number six, possibly with the recalled Dominik Szoboszlai beside him and Ryan Gravenberch, unless Mac Allister somehow forces his way into the starting XI.

Diogo Jota made a strong comeback from injury against Burnley, scoring his team’s second goal off the bench. However, he might only be able to make another cameo appearance as Darwin Nunez, Cody Gakpo, and Mohamed Salah—who scored two goals late at St. James’ Park in August—form an unchanged attacking trio.

Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Gomez; Szoboszlai, Endo, Gravenberch; Salah, Gakpo, Nunez might be Liverpool’s starting lineup.
