Players rated as Liverpool defeats Fulham 4-3

December 3, 2023, Anfield, Premier League (14), Liverpool 4-3 Fulham

Objectives: Wilson 25′, Tete 45′, De Cordova-Reid 80′; Leno OG 20′, Mac Allister 38′, Endo 87′, Alexander-Arnold 88′.

Out of ten, Caoimhin Kelleher has four.

Although Kelleher replaced the injured Alisson, it was a huge day for him, and his performance was certainly cause for concern.

The Irishman appeared to unnerve the defense and should have done more for Kenny Tete’s goal and Harry Wilson’s as well.

The 25-year-old scored the game’s first goal with an incredible 30-yard free kick, which Bernd Leno was forced to concede as an own goal. Throughout the match, he led the midfield with talent and purpose.

Even though he played as an all-out No. 6 for the final quarter and saw his impact diminish, the childhood Liverpool supporter hit a spectacular shot in the final seconds to win it.Although he is a significant step down from Alisson, more games under his belt could boost his confidence.

Trent Alexander-Arnold: 8 (Most Valuable Player)

In Liverpool’s 1-1 draw with Manchester City the previous weekend, Alexander-Arnold emerged victorious, and his incredible technique was evident at Anfield.

The 25-year-old scored the game’s first goal with an incredible 30-yard free kick, which Bernd Leno was forced to concede as an own goal. Throughout the match, he led the midfield with talent and purpose.

Even though he played as an all-out No. 6 for the final quarter and saw his impact diminish, the childhood Liverpool supporter hit a spectacular shot in the final seconds to win it.

Joel Matip – 6

Matip is having a fantastic season, but the Reds’ defense occasionally looked unsteady, so this wasn’t his best performance.

The seasoned center defender did contribute significantly by making a crucial interception to stop Wilson, but at times, his lack of speed raised questions when Fulham counterattacked.

Had gone off hurt, which is somewhat concerning considering his past struggles with fitness.

Van Dijk, Virgil – 7

Van Dijk was a part of a defense that faltered even though he was physically dominant for the majority of the action at Anfield.

To be fair, the Liverpool captain had a solid all-around game, but occasionally it might have been claimed that a bit more organization and focus were required.

But maybe we just have unrealistic expectations sometimes.

Sixth Kostas Tsimikas

Tsimikas has been getting better lately, having a prolonged stint with the squad, and he performed well once more in this match.

The Greek attempted to overlap runs with Luis Diaz down the left wing, but a more reliable finish was required.

let Bobby De Cordova-Reid to clear him and win, but the advantages were greater than the disadvantages.

Eight Alexis Mac Allister

That was Liverpool’s first-ever goal, how about that?

In addition to being modest in defensive midfield and scoring a spectacular long-range strike to make it 2-1, Mac Allister also provided a nice burst of pace during Fulham’s first-half break.

In actuality, he would still be at his peak as a No. 8, but it appears that Jurgen Klopp has made up his mind.

Six Dominik Szoboszlai

Szoboszlai’s form has recently somewhat declined after a brilliant start to the season, but we still have great hopes.

The Hungarian continued to be a potent box-to-box presence, reaching the goal prior to halftime and covering an unfathomable amount of territory as usual.

has a tremendous shot against him and has been very near several times.

Gravenberch Ryan – 5

Although it was undoubtedly a surprising choice on Klopp’s part, Gravenberch was selected over Curtis Jones and turned out to be far from his best.

He had advanced thinking and smooth movement when he had the ball, but his ball retention and defensive play fell short of Jones’.

A tremendous talent, he was still getting used to his manager’s methods and by the time he was replaced, he appeared broken.

Mohamed Salah – 5

Salah played a lot of the game in a somber manner, hoping to enter the 200-goal club at Liverpool.

The Egyptian King wasted his last ball, as he has far too frequently this season, and he just could not seem to find his normal impact.

Lately, I missed a sitter, which appeared expensive, but fortunately, it was insignificant.

Luis Diaz, age five

Diaz gave a lackluster performance at Anfield, with his father sitting in the stands watching him. There wasn’t enough finished product.

His greatest moment was a beautiful touch and shot early on, but he was wasteful in the attacking third even though he always attempted to work some magic there.

Better games are ahead; the player doesn’t appear to be as explosive as he was before the knee injury.

Four Darwin Nunez

In the heart of Liverpool’s assault, Nunez was chosen over Cody Gakpo, but he gave a pretty disappointing showing.

The Uruguayan weakened the power of others around him when he didn’t give up possession cheaply and fell to the ground too quickly.

Hit the bar when he should have taken less off the shot, but he persisted in trying to be fair, and he and Klopp joyfully celebrated the winner.

Alternatives

Cody Gakpo (64′) on for Szoboszlai

played a stronger linked game than Nunez and contributed to Trent’s victory.

Joe Gomez – 6 (in place of Mac Allister, 64′)

Better than unremarkable, but not particularly bad.

Konate Ibrahima (on for Matip, 68′) – 7

He used his pace efficiently and bit into tackles.

Wataru Endo (83′) on for Gravenberch – 8

An incredible finish to make it 3-3! infused the crew with enthusiasm.

Adrian, Quansah, Elliott, Jones, and Doak were not substituted.

Jurgen Klopp – 7

This time around, Klopp understood the value of three points after a solid draw at Man City, particularly in light of Arsenal’s victory on Saturday.

Although the starting lineup selected by the manager appeared solid on paper, Liverpool’s performance was disappointing, and Gravenberch’s substitution for Jones didn’t quite work.

Additionally, Klopp made some strange substitutes. Does he always have to bench Szoboszlai? But in the end, he inspired his group and led them to a valuable victory.

That makes 11 straight home wins for the season.
