Peter Schmeichel offers an honest assessment of Manchester United’s prospects of defeating Liverpool FC.

Because three of Manchester United’s greatest players are questionable, Peter Schmeichel has given his team little hope of winning at Anfield.

Peter Schmeichel offers an honest assessment of Manchester United’s prospects of defeating Liverpool FC.

After losing to Bayern Munich throughout the week, United was knocked out of the Champions League. On Sunday, they will try to bounce back against Liverpool. The fact that Erik ten Hag had to substitute Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw—both of whom appeared to have suffered from muscular injuries—only made his suffering worse.

Due to their serious injuries, Bruno Fernandes, the club captain, will most likely miss the game this weekend. During the weekend’s loss to Bournemouth, the Portuguese midfield player received his fifth booking of the year, which resulted in a one-match suspension.

“To be honest, everything seems out of sync,” Schmeichel said to CBS Sports. “Harry Maguire is obviously coming off with an injury. Luke Shaw was hurt during the game.

Liverpool is our opponent on Sunday. I’m making an effort to ignore that. Harry Maguire, who has been our best player for the past month or two, will not be playing, nor will Fernandos, our captain. Luke Shaw will not be available if he is hurt.

“The future doesn’t look good. How on earth is this team going to win at Anfield after this performance against Bayern? I simply don’t see it.”

Ten Hag’s availability for both Shaw and Maguire will be questioned on Friday during his pre-game press conference. Due to more serious problems, the Dutchman will also be missing players like Casemiro and Lisandro Martinez.

Diogo Jota, Alexis Mac Allister, Joel Matip, and Andy Robertson are among the other players missing for Liverpool. On Thursday, Jurgen Klopp’s team plays Union Saint-Gilloise in their last Europa League group stage match, but as they have already clinched first place, they can play every position.
