Packers Jaire Alexander aims to be selfless in 2024.

To succeed as a professional athlete, you must possess a certain level of confidence and swagger.

Green Bay Packers cornerback Jaire Alexander has plenty of it, as evidenced by his raucous presence at the team’s OTAs this week. “The best cornerback in the NFL has entered the conversation,” Alexander said reporters last week as he approached them outside the team dressing room.

Packers management and fans have come to expect it from Jaire Alexander at this point. He is extremely confident in his abilities, and the squad will be counting on him to rebound from a poor 2023 season.

Injuries derailed him, as there were whispers about whether or not the team would move on from him this offseason. They opted to keep him, as he is the only cornerback currently assured of a role in Jeff Hafley’s defense.

He is now the veteran on whom other players will lean throughout the offseason, picking his brain. Jaire Alexander is back after missing the majority of the offseason program in 2023, and he’s looking to lead by example.

“As I enter Year 7, I’m trying not to make it too much about me and instead do what’s best for the team,” Alexander explained. That is exactly what the Packers hope to hear and witness.

Last season, their standout cornerback had a couple run-ins, which resulted in fines and a late-season ban. To ensure that everyone was on the same page, talks were held between the star cornerback, head coach Matt LaFleur, and general manager Brian Gutekunst.

He is a big part of their plan defensively. A true shutdown corner when he is on top of his game, Jaire Alexander could be freed up to shadow the opposing team’s best wide receiver this season with the depth the team has in the secondary. That could help take the Packers’ defense to another level, pushing them closer to being true contenders in the NFC.
