Mason Mount sends message to Man United fans as his injury return dates has been announced

Mason Mount, a midfielder for £55 million, was the first summer addition made by Manchester United, as Erik ten Hag thought he could be able to take Christian Eriksen’s spot as a free agent.

This hasn’t been the case, though, as the Englishman has been in and out of the team due to recurrent minor ailments after sustaining a muscular strain following Tottenham Hotspur’s loss.

Due to a calf injury, Mount has missed the previous few weeks of action. However, he is back in training and could play this weekend against Nottingham Forest.

Mount’s letter to the supporters

The English midfielder has had a lot of patience from the Old Trafford supporters, and one irritating aspect of Mount’s troubles this season has been that he has looked the part when he has played.

The former Chelsea midfielder thanked the supporters of his campaign on Instagram, writing: “Hope you had a great Christmas Reds, can’t wait to be back out there with the lads!”

Ten Hag will undoubtedly start the 24-year-old in the East Midlands if the English midfielder is well enough to play in the crucial match at the City Ground.

Mount is required.

Together with United captain Bruno Fernandes, Eriksen entered the match against Unai Emery’s Aston Villa, and he had a significant impact, especially in the second half.

Villa’s attempted offside traps at Old Trafford created a lot of space behind the defence that United’s potent attackers could take advantage of, and the inventive pair was doing exactly that.

But these gaps will not exist against Nuno Espirito’s Santo’s Nottingham Forest, and the Red Devils must be mindful of the intense atmosphere that awaits them.

It would be risky to play Eriksen because he has a history of struggling when opposing teams rush him. Mount has been waiting for his chance and should finally be able to show Ten Hag why he committed a large portion of his summer spending budget on the offensive midfield player.
