Luis Garcia reveals the manager he would choose for Liverpool at this time between Gerrard Steven and Alonso Xabi.

One applicant in particular appears to be sticking out above the others as Liverpool starts the hiring process for a new manager.

Luis Garcia reveals the manager he would choose for Liverpool at this time between Gerrard Steven and Alonso Xabi.

At Anfield, Xabi Alonso left quite the legacy in his five years there.Alonso has emerged as the front-runner to take over as manager after it was shockingly revealed that Jurgen Klopp would step down at the end of the season.

However, Luis Garcia, the Spaniard’s former Liverpool teammate, believes that Alonso might not be prepared to take over his former team just yet. When asked by CBS Sports Golazo who he would choose between Steven Gerrard and his compatriot, Garcia unexpectedly said that he would choose Stevie G.

The analyst answered, “To be honest, I think it’s going to be hard to get one of those because Steven Gerrard just signed a new contract, Xabi as well.”

However, I believe Xabi is doing a fantastic job there, so if I could choose to do anything right now, I would suggest to leave him waiting for his chance. Additionally, I would add Steven Gerrard to Liverpool’s roster. Because I believe that his temperament would mesh well with Liverpool’s current playing style.

Garcia supports Gerrard to work at Liverpool

Had information about Klopp’s impending exit surfaced two or three years prior, Gerrard would have been the choice without a doubt. However, the former captain of Liverpool has not fared well over time.

Gerrard appeared to be headed for Anfield after doing admirably at Rangers and landing a move to Aston Villa.

However, a truly bad stint at Villa was supported by his summertime transfer to Al Ettifaq in the Saudi Pro League.

His decision to join Ettifaq should have dissuaded Liverpool from believing that the Scouser was the right person to follow Klopp, if his tenure at Villa Park wasn’t enough.

Gerrard has since moved the Saudi team up to seventh place in the standings. Form is hardly eye-catching.

He is still Stevie G, though. Maybe Liverpool will still think Gerrard may be useful if they believe they need a little period of transition under Klopp.

Since we love nostalgia so much, we would still be thrilled to see this happen. Based solely on instinct, Stevie lacks the necessary skills to take on the Reds role. Even so, it would be wonderful to see him return and be successful at Anfield. Perhaps it is worth a try.

Conversely, Alonso appears destined to become a top-tier coach. However, he is still in the early stages of his managing career, so a transfer to Liverpool would still be dangerous. So how about we get one of our best midfields from the twenty-first century back together? Head coach Alonso, assistant to Gerrard. Find out what Javier Mascherano is up to, please.
