Liverpool may be in a shock position to sign a 28-year-old Champions League winner.

Numerous possible signings to Liverpool are still being connected as the January transfer window draws near.

Liverpool may be in a shock position to sign a 28-year-old Champions League winner.

Many of the names being discussed are repeats from the previous summer. Joshua Kimmich of Bayern Munich is one of the more phony.

Even though Kimmich appeared to be an untouchable target, journalist Christian Falk stated today that the 28-year-old may actually be leaving Bayern.

“It’s not impossible that FC Bayern and Kimmich will part ways,” Falk stated in the Daily Briefing Fact Files for today. “His contract expires in 2025 only. Thomas Tuchel has questioned the player, just like Nagelsmann. Kimmich is not viewed as a “holding six” by any coach.

“FC Barcelona is considering Kimmich extremely seriously. A few Premier League clubs will have a look at him if he goes on the market in the summer of next year. Having first discovered and elevated Kimmich at Munich, Pep Guardiola is regarded as a huge fan of the player. Due to his ability to play multiple positions, Kimmich’s versatility is valued by the City coach.

However, Kimmich’s strengths are also known to Jurgen Klopp, which would be advantageous for Liverpool FC. Kimmich’s poker game might open up shortly.

Bayern is willing to sell Kimmich

This one is quite fascinating. An incredibly fascinating one, in fact.

Naturally, Liverpool wouldn’t be interested in someone with Kimmich’s profile under normal conditions. He will turn 29 in February and is well-known at Bayern.

But as Thiago Alcantara, Kimmich’s former Munich colleague, shown, the Reds are willing to defy their rules in order to accommodate exceptional players and unique opportunities.

This might be another opportunity for Liverpool, since the Germany international’s contract is about to reach its last 18 months.

You could easily see the Reds boss calling his compatriot if Klopp is genuinely a huge fan of his.

Kimmich was once a right-back for Bayern, but he currently plays primarily in the midfield. Although Tuchel and Nagelsmann may not have viewed him as a holding midfielder, you could understand why that might be effective for Liverpool.

Kimmich and Alexis Mac Allister, the Reds’ current No. 6 player, are stylistically similar. Given that Klopp modified his system to suit Mac Allister’s characteristics, is it really so crazy to think that he’s setting up Kimmich for success? Maybe.

Nevertheless, we can envision a scenario in which Mac Allister is used as a stopgap player by Liverpool until he is pushed into a more natural attacking role. Liverpool has already carved out a role for the 2020 Champions League champion. Let’s see if it has any results.
