Jayden Reed reminds Packers’ Jaire Alexander of former teammate Randall Cobb.

The Green Bay Packers embarked on a fresh chapter last season after the departure of Aaron Rodgers . It was the dawn of a new day in the building as Jordan Love took over. The changes were not just at the quarterback position but even on the wide receiver spot as Randall Cobb, a seasoned player left the team to go play with Rodgers in New York.

The Green Bay Packers did not have depth in their receiver core. Their wideouts comprised of players in their first or second year in the NFL. This created an opportunity for them to showcase their skills and nobody did it better than Jayden Reed. The wideout had a fruitful year having caught 64 receptions for 793 yards, and 8 touchdowns. Reed’s gameplay left fans and his teammates impressed.

Cornerback Jaire Alexander compared Reed to Randall Cobb in terms of route running and his skillset.

I mean, he has full potential. He reminds me of a young Randall Cobb but he’s I think, you know, he’s better. He’s hungry man. When you got a young guy coming in who’s hungry for the ball, they’re gonna make their plays and you see it. Jaire Alexander said via NFL Media.

Jayden Reed was Jordan Love’s go-to target on offense this season

Reed made his mark quickly and established a solid rapport with Jordan Love early on. He emerged as the quarterback’s top target this season and averaged over 2 yards per route run. He had a better year compared to Randall Cobb who caught 25 passes for 375 yards and a touchdown in his first year. From that point forward, Cobb continued to get better and became Aaron Rodgers’ go-to target.

It is not a stretch to argue that Love and Reed are on their way to being the second coming of Rodgers-Cobb. Jaire Alexander notices Reed’s hunger when he comes out onto the field. He makes plays happen, which is an excellent sign of a rising star.

The Green Bay Packers have a talented roster on both offense and defense. In a season where nothing was expected of them, the club advanced to the Divisional Round of the playoffs, demonstrating that they are not to be underestimated.

This year, the squad hopes to duplicate its success by making it to the Super Bowl. One thing is certain: no Aaron Rodgers, no problem.Green Bay has a bright future ahead.
