Howe highlights Joelinton’s importance in Newcastle United’s evening headlines against Liverpool.

Joelinton jeers Newcastle’s way.

Eddie Howe, the manager of Newcastle United, has disclosed that Joelinton’s recent hamstring injury has significantly contributed to the team’s subpar play. The Brazilian international may return to action for Monday night’s match at Anfield against Liverpool now that he is fully recovered.

Howe would receive a much-needed boost in the midfield if Joelinton plays, but he will have to choose between Lewis Miley, Sean Longstaff, and Bruno Guimaraes for the starting lineup. Although he acknowledged that the former Hoffenheim star’s absence was felt more than that of some of the other absent players, Howe was happy to have him back in the mix.

“I think whenever you lose a player of Joe’s quality, or someone like that, and you’re without those qualities in your team you realise how important they are – not that we ever needed confirmation of that, but sometimes it’s felt harder, especially with some of the other players we’ve got missing,” said Howe.

Alexander Isak is well aware of the significance of the Tyne-Wear FA Cup derby between Sunderland and Newcastle United for the Newcastle United fan base next week.

Isak, a Toon record acquisition, spoke to beIN Sports and mentioned how his Geordie teammates have instilled in him the value of defeating Sunderland. It’s a major game, of course, he said. We’ve heard from a few local boys how important it is to the city and the supporters. When it does arrive, it will be a significant day.

“We need to be as prepared and attentive as we can be. I’m sure that all of us have participated in derbies as a team. There’s been a significant derby at every club I’ve been to. I am aware of the fans’ importance and how much this means to them.
