When you’ve been in the NFL for 13 seasons, retirement is undoubtedly a topic that people want to discuss.
People will wonder when you are 35 years old, have played 13 seasons, and have just returned from an injury-filled season. This is the current position of Pittsburgh Steelers defensive tackle Cam Heyward.
Heyward is presently sitting out OTAs for the first time in his career as he and the Steelers purportedly negotiate a contract deal, but there is no guarantee it will be completed.
I just interviewed Heyward and questioned him about retirement, and he was very clear about his plans.
“I’m not retiring anytime soon,” said Heyward.
Heyward is the epitome of what it means to be a Steeler and we have 100 percent confidence the two sides will come together on a new contract.
