After Jurgen Klopp’s shocking declaration, Ian Wright validates speculations about Liverpool by saying.

Ian Wright claims he felt ‘very sorry’ at the news that Jurgen Klopp will stand down as manager and responded to accusations that he is a closet Liverpool fan.

The FA Cup fifth round encounter between Norwich City and the Reds took place at Anfield, marking the first game since the German’s revelation. There have been rumors that the 60-year-old favors Liverpool because the Arsenal legend has shown his respect for the Reds and their successful management.

After Wright acknowledged to touching the “This is Anfield” sign in 2022, the Irishman slapped the former striker following a contentious debate between him and former Manchester United midfielder Roy Keane.

Prior to Liverpool’s 5-2 FA Cup triumph over the Canaries, Wright gave a brief overview of Klopp’s achievements throughout his nine years on Merseyside.

Amazing what he’s done since joining the team; when he was appointed, their goal was to get Liverpool back to the top table,” he said.

“It took him three years to get going, win his first trophy but he’s done that and engraved himself into the Liverpool culture and won everything.”

After learning about Klopp’s leaving at the end of the season, Wright attacked the notions that he is the closest Liverpool supporter, saying that he does support the team even if he is unable to feel some sadness.

“It was a sad day, I was quite sad,” he continued. People refer to me as a “closet Liverpool fan,” and if shock and grief qualify as a closet fandom, then I certainly qualify as I found the news to be incredibly depressing.

Once he made the statement, you would actually believe him. He appeared exhausted and spoke of tiredness. It truly is depressing.”
